The Validated Practices Project was completed during my first rotation of my student teaching semester. During my first rotation I was at Magnolia Middle School in Harford County Maryland teaching seventh grade social studies. The school was very diverse and my classes ranged in ability levels. For this particular project I taught three lessons in the Emerging Civilizations unit. Before I began teaching the lesson series, I gave the students a pre-test and at the end of the third lesson my students were given a post-test. The results from the pre and post assessments can be seen in the excel spreadsheet attached above. A narrative describing the school, students, and lesson plans can also be found above. Overall the lesson plans were successful because after calculating this post- assessment results the average percent improved twenty-eight percent.
